    An Organised Life: Dreaming

    Organised Dream

Organisation doesn’t just come from using a diary. The first step to organising your life is through organising your mind and achieving mental wellbeing. Organising your mind can seem overwhelming when you think of where to begin...The key to mental wellbeing however, is inspiration. It takes 21 days to form a habit, so in the upcoming organisational exercises we’ll be using these 21 days to focus on your goals and dreams, on how to embrace inspiration and how to plan your organised life to succeed.

The first step towards capturing inspiration and achieving balance in your life is recording your dreams. Use the 101 Dreams Journal as an active collection of your dreams, filled with inspirational images and words. No dream is silly, and none is too small or too big. Write down every dream.

They might include things like ‘Become a Leader,’ ‘Travel to India’ or ‘Own my Own Home.’ Your dreams are unique and important and you can add to it over time, so don’t stress about filling in the journal as quickly as you can. Your dreams will evolve and grow and the journal is there to document this.

    WEEKLY TASK

Your organisational activity for the week is to record a dream each day. Write it in big, bold, colourful letters and decorate however you like. Include anything that will help you stay inspired and motivate you towards turning each dream into a reality.

For more tips on how to set resolutions and stick to them visit our New Year’s Resolutions post here.

    An Organised Life: Inspiration

    An Inspired Life

The benefits of an organised life are huge; more free time, improved moods, money saved, better relationships, an overall feeling of achievement, more energy and a positive attitude that rubs off on others. To help you on your journey to an organised life, we'll be posting weekly challenges on different topics on our blog. Keep checking in for tips, advice and activities to help you be all that you can be in 2012.

Although we start off with the best intentions, it can often be easy to slip into a routine where we forget about our New Year’s resolutions. Our hopes and dreams, whilst still strong, take a back seat while we deal with the challenges of everyday life.

Instead of allowing this to happen this year, use the tools available to you to plan for success. Organisation does come when you’re committed to the cause, but it’s also a lot easier to achieve with the right tools and systems. A 2012 Diary is an essential tool to working towards achieving your dreams and goals throughout the year. There are many important things to consider when choosing your diary. Visit our post on Making the Most of Your Diary here for more information.

It takes 21 days to make a habit so use your diary to plan these very important first 21 days. Write down each day number in the corner in a bright colour, ie. Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 etc. Refer to your goals and the steps needed to achieve them (Tips on Goal Setting will be posted soon). Transfer these into your diary and actively plan your routine around these steps. For example, if one of your goals is to ‘Spend more time with the kids’, write down exactly when you’re going to spend time with them. This way you have to make the time instead of letting work or other commitments take precedence.

Using a calendar with your diary can also help you keep track of your goals and stay on top of your other commitments. A calendar offers more space so you can easily see what is happening in the upcoming month, while the diary acts as your on-the-go planner to keep you motivated and inspired.

Putting pen to paper is an important step in realising your dreams. It turns hopes into tangible goals.

    Weekly Task:

Choose a diary and calendar combination that suits your lifestyle and personality. Jot down all upcoming dates that you're aware of in your diary and calendar and colour code these according to events, birthdays, deadlines, etc. Hang your calendar somewhere you will see it every day so that you’re reminded of your plan and of any upcoming events. This way you’ll stay on top of your commitments and won’t be able to hide behind excuses. Now you’re on your way to capturing those dreams. We can’t wait to see what you achieve...

View 2012 Diaries and Calendars here.

Next week we'll be focusing on dreaming and how to let go of the fears holding you back and make the most of every opportunity.

      Journaling Prompt #5

Write a page in stream of consciousness. That means simply put your pen to paper, pick a word or a thought, and start writing. Don’t stop writing or take your pen off the page until you reach the end of the page.

It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense, just let your thoughts continue and your pen keep notating them. Read it afterwards. What subjects or themes did you thoughts keep returning to? Take note and even if you can't think of their significance at that moment, it might offer an insight when you return to that page further down your journaling project.

      New Year Journaling Tips

      365 Days Open

The new year has begun. Journaling is a fantastic way to document your year and is the perfect tool to offer insight into the journey you take. Journaling can sometimes seem overwhelming as we often set high standards for ourselves and while we hit the ground running, we end up slowing down or even stopping after a few days.

Don’t be afraid of journaling; here are some simple tips to help you on your way.

Start simple. Don’t start your journal out with an extravagant display of your creativity using numerous materials, shapes, glitter and glue. Start with something simple and stylish. It takes 21 days to form a habit, so keep journaling manageable until after that period and then unleash your creativity.

Your journal doesn’t have to include day by day accounts of your life. Think outside the norms. Instead of writing you could draw a picture, write down an inspiring quote, stick in a photograph, a poem or the lyrics of your favourite song. You might only feel like drawing a grid of black lines, but make sure you put something on the page. If you miss out one day, it’s easy to miss the next and the next… At the end of the year you will be so proud of your effort and of the keepsake you’ve created. It’s something you’ll look back on for years to come.

To get you started and keep you on track we’ll be posting journaling prompts throughout January. Let the prompts inspire you and you’ll be amazed at the outcome.

If you don't have a journal yet, here are some of our favourite options:

      An Organised Life

At kikki.K we believe organisation is about more than just finding things quickly. It's about that incredible sense of wellbeing and productivity that comes from being in control, and having more time for the enjoyable things in life.

This guidebook has been designed to inspire you to reap the benefits of an organised life. Identify your organisation goals; tackle them one at a time; take time to discover what works for you; and be good to yourself along the way. Soon you'll achieve that wonderful sense of calm and control.
