Planning is the Key

  • On Sunday evenings I sit down with my Family Calendar, Meal Planner and Shopping List. I plan events and meals for the week – and compile my grocery list.
  • I have a Magnetic Board inside my pantry door with my Shopping List and Meal Planner. As soon as we run out of a grocery items I write it straight on my Shopping List.
  • On the other side of the pantry door is the Family Calendar. Everyone can see what is happening for the week and add anything they need to.

Loving My Series

  • My husband cooks a lot and loves to use the My Recipes Folder with all our family favourites. He has even started adding his own recipes.
  • We are planning a family holiday to Europe and use the My Travel Organiser to keep all our travel information in the one place.
  • My Dream Home is one of my favourite folders. I carried it everywhere with me when we were building. It contained everything from tile samples to magazine clippings. I honestly don't know how you would decorate a home without it.
  • I encourage my teenage children to use My Bills. It’s teaching them valuable organising skills and keeps all of their important documents in one safe place.

Family Calendar
Each member of our family has a spot on the Family Calendar. It’s invaluable to get an overview of the month’s activities, birthdays and important things to remember.

Keepsakes
I have set up a keepsake box for both of my children using a kikki.K A3 Storage Box. I store their special baby things, favourite toys, first pair of shoes, first drawings and photos in there. My little girl loves looking through hers and I know they will treasure these boxes as they grow older.

Evening Rituals
I swear by an evening routine, it helps our mornings run smoothly and ensures everyone has a great start to the day, not a stressful one.

  • I prepare my kids school lunches and my own lunch the night before. I always have them written in a Meal Planner, ready to prepare after dinner.
  • I prepare their uniforms/clothing for the following day the night before – myself included!
  • I always empty the kids school bags straight after school so there are no nasty surprises in the morning.
  • I complete all school notices as soon as I get them, return them the next day & diarise it!

Chore Rewards

Encourage your kids to take responsibility and help out by using the Chores List – they love getting a gold star!

Lockers
Having a place where everyone can put their bags at the end of day helps keep us organised and tidy. We use an old bookcase turned on its side which gives each of us a section to put our bags and books.  Inside the lockers we have a Magazine Holder for artwork, diaries and various papers.

I know of one super mum who had locker cabinets built into her laundry when she renovated.  Another gorgeous mum I know bought stunning vintage lockers (which I am seriously coveting).

Here’s some locker inspiration...
